Visit La Rochelle

Guarded by three towers, the port is at the heart of life in La Rochelle. Stroll along the pedestrian quays, visit the towers, have a coffee on a terrace… There’s always something happening. Not far from the quays, extend your walk to the Saint-Nicolas district, a former fishermen's quarter now known for its art galleries, bookstores, and designer shops. Simple and refreshing pleasures.

La Rochelle Towers: Their names are Saint-Nicolas, Tour de la Chaîne, and Tour de la Lanterne, and they are part of the history of the city, including the famous Siege of La Rochelle led by Richelieu. Climb their steps and enjoy a unique panorama of the city and beyond, to the Pertuis d’Antioche.

Centre-ville

City Center, Arcades, and Market: A bustling set of streets, many of which are pedestrianized, where shops and old mansions stand side by side. Look up and admire the beautifully restored facades; walk under the Grosse Horloge to reach the Old Port, a must-see place for meetings and street performances in summer. And when it rains—because it does rain sometimes even in La Rochelle—there’s no need for an umbrella thanks to the famous arcades!

Parks: Take the time to stroll through the lovely parks of the city. Whether it’s Frank Delmas Park with its many flowers or Alcide d’Orbigny Park with its charming gazebo facing the ocean, it’s time to relax…

Les Minimes Marina in 3 minutes with shuttle boats from the Old Port: Stroll around one of the largest marinas in Europe. To get there, board an electro-solar boat Yélo Passeur or Sea Bus from the Tour de la Chaîne, which also accepts bicycles!
